Newland Four Square Gospel's Ernesto Fuller prepares to make a shot.
Miracle Open Bible kept their semi-final hopes alive with a seven-wicket win over pointless Newland Four Square Gospel as the Power of Faith Ministries Twenty/20 Church Cricket league continued at the Lime Tree Oval in St Catherine on Saturday.
Miracle moved to joint leadership of Zone One with six points from two games, the same as defending champions Power of Faith Seniors, while Mandeville New Testament lie third with four points from one game.
Newland Four Square batted first and crashed to 49 all out, as only Ernesto Fuller with 18 reached double figures. The next best score was Carlos Gocoul with eight. Newland's batting was undermined by Miracle's captain, medium pacer Lushane Black with glorious figures of 4-4 off three overs, including the first hat-trick of the tournament. Black's wickets include Newland's captain Michael Thompson who was bowled for a first-ball duck.
Black got good support from Sevaaska Grant who took 4-13. Miracle at their turn at bat cruised to 50-3 off 12.3 overs. Derron McLarty topscored with 24, and Elmo Jackson chipped in with 15. Javon Thompson and Duval Bryan took a wicket apiece.
