Police constable Maurice Taylor, 28, has been sentenced to four months' imprisonment for larceny of $140,000.
Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry found him guilty in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court of the charge.
Taylor, who was attached to the Falmouth Police Station, was charged with simple larceny after his friend Rohan Williams missed the money from his motor car.
Taylor testified on February 7, 2007, he showed Williams the money which was in the glove compartment of the motor car.
Later that day, while they were at a restaurant in Greenwood, St James, Taylor borrowed the car keys and went outside.
When Williams went outside, he noticed that the passenger door of his car was open and the money missing.
Taylor denied stealing the money but the RM found him guilty and sentenced him.
