Annalee Bernard, STAR Writer

St. Elizabeth

A 54-year-old mechanic and businessman, Gerald Brown, of Central Road, Black River, and Hodges Housing Scheme, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition yesterday.

Reports are that about a.m. yesterday, police attached to the Organised Crime and Flying Squad conducted operations in Hodges Housing Scheme and Central Road in Black River.

While there, they searched a house occupied by Brown, and one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with one magazine and 13 9mm cartridges was allegedly found hidden in a bathroom next to a bedroom.

A female companion, Natasha Shakespeare, who was with Brown at the time, was also arrested and charged. They are booked to appear in the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court next week.
