Portmore's Rodwood FC and Gordon Town-based Flamingo advanced to their respective Candon St Catherine Division One and Juciful Major League final following second-leg victories over DB Basovak and Waterford respectively, at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Tuesday.

In the first match of the double-header, Flamingo went on a goal-scoring spree with a 5-0 drubbing of Waterford, advancing 7-0 on aggregate. The victors were spurred on by a double by André Sharpe (24th, 46th), and a goal apiece by Ricardo Herrera (44th), Colin Green (76th), and Devon Francis (90th).

In the feature match at the venue, Rodwood advanced to their first Major League final after disposing of DB Basovak 3-2, to qualify 4-2 on aggregate.

Winning coach, Michael Williams, said it was a hard-fought win.

"It was a good win for us it was a hard-fought game, and it's our first time in the final and we hope to go all the way," he said.

Rodwood, which came into the second leg with a 1-0 lead, played a tactical game, and went out to a 3-0 aggregate lead at half-time, after goals from Dale Dixon (penalty) and André Austin (20th). But Rodwood suffered a setback when Damane Bell was shown the red card by referee Karl Tyrell for elbowing a Basovak player after 57 minutes. However, the green and black-clad team was given breathing space when Austin scored his second goal a minute later, giving them a 3-0 lead and 4-0 on aggregate. Basovak made the last 15 minutes interesting after Travis Scott netted from point-blank range, and captain Orville Dubidad scored a penalty, leaving the tie 4-2 on aggregate.

DB Basovak's coach, Kevin Brown, said his team's loss was because of indiscipline. "Basically, after we trained with a game plan, the players strayed from it, as we started with two forwards, then we went to three, and we were trying too hard to get the one goal we were down by and left our defence exposed. To be frank, the players' indiscipline cost us the game," he said.

Today, Cumberland and Dela Vega City will try to break their 0-0 deadlock in the Division One semis at 3 p.m. at the Prison Oval, while at 5 p.m. at the same venue, Tru Juice take a 2-0 advantage going in to their second-leg game against Black Lion in the Juciful Major League.
