We're back! THE STAR poll is here once again and dare we say, better than ever. We 'hit' the streets with all the juiciest questions about sex, obeah, music, religion and much more and now we're ready to give you the results. Prepare to be shocked and amused like never before.

It is often said that Jamaica is one of the most homophobic societies. In recent times especially, our stance against homosexuality has made international headlines and has even earned us an ultimatum from a Canadian human rights group.

We went to the streets and asked :

Do you have any friends or family members who you think are probably gay men or lesbians? Here's what we found out :

Yes .................................. 11%

No .................................... 84%

Don't Know ....................... 5%

As expected, the majority of the people polled said they did not have any friends or relatives who were gay. Somehow this does not come as a surprise as it would be very strange if more than 11 per cent had admitted knowing a gay person. This small margin however, was at least honest enough to talk about the fact that they were, in some way or another, associated with a gay person.

The poll was conducted on January 28 -29 by Johnson Survey Research Limited
