Another illegal gun found

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The St Catherine South police on Monday recovered another illegal weapon.

Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer for the division, Constable Verdane Wright, reported that the illegal weapon, a Ruger 9mm semi-automatic pistol was seized during a police operation which was being conducted along Passagefort Drive in Portmore, St Catherine.

It is reported that about 2:30 p.m. during the operation, the driver of a white Toyota Corolla was signalled to stop.

The vehicle was then reportedly searched and the firearm found under the drivers seat.

The driver, a 27-year-old higgler was subsequently arrested and charged and is expected to appear in court on May 20.

His identification has been withheld pending further investigations.
