Fighting in God's house

The lead story in Tuesday's STAR was, indeed, quite a disgrace.

According to the story, the mother of an infant and a female companion of the child's father got into a physical altercation at the child's christening. The mother of the child was at the church awaiting the arrival of the child's father when he appeared with another woman. Both women were apparently not very happy to see each other and a fight developed.

This part of the story was disturbing enough. However, things got worse. The article further explained that the father of the child got involved in the fracas and gave the mother of the child a sound beating.

No respect

The fact that these people chose to engage in this sort of behaviour in church is clear evidence that they had no respect for the house of God, the congregation or even their child. We are sure all parties could have contained their anger for however long the ceremony took, if even to pretend that they were capable of being mature.

The congregation must have been outraged at this sort of behaviour and rightfully so, as certain things should not be brought into a church. We hope that these individuals can look back at their actions and see that they were at fault. Though at times we may be bursting with anger, we must realise that there is a time and place for every kind of behaviour. A church is simply not the place for violent confrontations.
