A 'Pleasing' Buss for Bugle

Roy 'Bugle' Thompson. - Peta-Gaye Clachar

In this weekly Muss Buss Caan Buss song review feature, three musical minds with different tastes analyse each song and grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be dubbed 'Mus Buss', while songs that flop will be dumped in the 'Caan Buss' bin.

The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@hotmail.com or mail in your songs to 'Mus Buss' at the Gleaner Company, 7 North Street, Kingston. This week the muss buss/cyaan buss team will be reviewing Bugle's Please.

Stunner: "I presume DASECA produced this one too."

Witch: "No, it was TJ Records."

Stunner: "Waah mi fren buss yah now ... but den him buss already."

Lady Boo: "This is a very slow song, I think it's time for us to meditate."

Witch: "True, but the words deep, as usual. Bugle is a real thinker when it comes to lyrics and from what he writes, it sounds like he has gone through nuff in life."

Lady Boo: "Di words dem deep but dem nuh seem new, is like yuh a hear di same theme, a wha him go through so inna him life time, is pure pressure so?"

Witch: "Some people go through nuff still and you'd never guess or imagine, obviously he's one of those people. He's been trying to buss for a long time so maybe him go through nuff back stabbing."

Stunner: "Yah, Yah ... on a real I respect and understand Bugle's music. How much different should his words be? His words are just a reflection of di wicked world."

Witch: "Waah Stunner a wax poetic, a waah dis, a so Bugle a influence yuh?"

Lady Boo: "I wanna hear something else! It's nice and all but mi waan hear something else like good things. The song makes me feel sad."

Witch: "I like the production though, the beat is nice, it fits the song real good and his voice sounds so sad so it really goes well with the song's lyrics."

Stunner: "Yay Yay, yuh can actually hear di hurt in his voice and di riddim compliments di whole meditation vibe."

Lady Boo: "Unnu love meditate sah, but nice riddim, nice voice, cool yute, the song is positive, marketable and it will get a buss."

Stunner: "Good riddim, good voice, good artiste, sounds like a ting can gwaan for it yes."

Witch: "Yah man this song will get a forward a dance. Jamaican people understand bad mind so Bugle will get a buss. Him really a cover di world like google."
