Jasmine Lue accompanies her twin sister Janice, a.ka. 'Twin Sweetness' everywhere she goes and the Digicel Rising Stars auditions were no different.
At the Kingston audition, the final one before voting begins, the identical siblings made a courtesy call just to see the happenings.
Janice, 16, actually made the top ten in the St Thomas audition, the first of six legs, with her sister Jasmine watching closely. In St Thomas the songbird chose Etana's Meditation and the judges loved it. When asked why she chose that song her response was: "I really love that song, it sends a strong message to young people."
Accomplished singer
Jasmine offered her support for Janice to enter the competition, while she acts as her greatest fan. Jasmine pointed out that she's not only an accomplished singer, but also a dancer in the making.
The twins are currently students at Morant Bay High School in St Thomas, where they have a great fan base.
Janice said that she started singing at age eight, her church's choir acting as her vessel for progression in the art. She noted that situations, hardships and problems in life inspire her music. "I just sing to alleviate stress, it helps me to relax my mind," she told THE STAR.
Twin Sweetness is awaiting the public votes to see if she will progress in the competition. Only two of the top ten will go on to the next round.
Last Sunday, the St Thomas auditions aired on TVJ at 8 p.m, this week, another audition will air on the same station this Sunday also at 8 p.m. This will continue every Sunday until a Rising Star is chosen. The first live show will air on July 20, on TVJ at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
