Located in Twickenham Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine, Design Tech Institute was established to train professionals for the building and engineering fields. It is a school that offers both technical and vocational training and facilitates timid adults, encouraging them to be part of the learning experience.

Marcia Tomlinson, principal of the institute, proudly stated, "Design Tech is the only institution in and around the area that is offering this type of training. We are a young school, however, one year from now, I see us turning out professionals in Computer Aided Drafting course."

The Design Tech Institute umbrella widens to offer specially designed programmes for adults who are re-entering the school system and dropouts from the high schools who need to rebuild their foundation in remedial and literacy skills. Persons who are interested in block-making and plumbing and do not have a certificate can always look to Design Tech Institute to become certified.

One student who is in the construction field stated, "I wanted to become qualified in AutoCad and this was the perfect place to get it done."

Another stated, "I am now aspiring to be a part of the construction field and this is where I want to start my foundation."
