AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEKEND STAR has been highlighting problem areas across the island.
Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photographer Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. We will then have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.
Well, the island on Washington Boulevard has not been painted, nor has the National Works Agency (NWA) responded to questions about the island being painted. So, we continue to wait for the simple deed to be done.
Paved surface
Until then, we continue to notice other islands and sidewalks that could do with a coat of paint. The intersection of Municipal Boulevard and Portmore Pines is another area that could do with some paint. The sidewalks, could be visible, and arrows drawn. That shouldn't take them 15 minutes, right?
In the meantime, Kew Road is looking up. The avenue, off Maxfield Avenue, St. Andrew has not yet been transformed into a road, "a smooth or paved surface made for travelling", but there has been an attempt to improve the track. On visiting the area, the STAR team saw that dirt was thrown on the road. Though this is a far cry from the work necessary to repair the road, it has helped, as sections of the road are level.
With the depth of those potholes, it must have taken a lot of dirt. Still, we await word from the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Council (KSAC), on when the road will be repaired or patched.
