Southboro Primary's students singing (Jesus) 'Walk with me'.Teachers' day was extra special for former vice-principal of Southboro Primary Icilda Robinson because she was honoured by the institution at a function at the Courtleigh Hotel in New Kingston.
Robinson taught at Southboro Primary for 17 years after joining the staff in 1990. She has a total of 43 years in the education system.
A number of persons paid special tribute to her, including the school's present vice-principal Claudette Kerr, who spoke on behalf of the school. "It is with great pleasure and deep sense of pride that we, the members of staff, students and entire school community at the Southboro Primary School, would like to take this opportunity to express to you our appreciation for the years of service which you have rendered not only here, but elsewhere in other parts of the country," Kerr expressed.

After she was given her citation by Kerr, the principal of the school, Carlyle Thompson, gave Robinson a special token and a big hug.
During the function, a trio of girls from the school sang the Negro spiritual (Jesus) Walk with me to the audience's delight.
Ruel Reid, principal of Jamaica College and former president of Jamaica Teachers' Association, gave the keynote address which took him across different areas of the education system, including the challenges facing education financially and the problem of spacing.
He also lauded the honouree for her dedicated service to education over the years and the indelible mark she has left on the students she taught.
