Cops seize two illegal guns

Two illegal firearms were seized in August Town, St Andrew and Spanish Town, St Catherine in separate incidents on Wednesday.

In one incident, a teenager was arrested following an alleged robbery of a bar on Brunswick Avenue in the Old Capital.

Police reports are that about 7:15 p.m., the 17-year-old and two other men reportedly went to a bar and proceeded to rob it.

The police were subsequently alerted and the boy held after he was seen running into a nearby house. He was searched and a shotgun with two 12 gauge cartridges found in his possession.

In August Town, the St Andrew Central police seized a rifle and several rounds of ammunition during a joint police/military operation

The weapon, a M16 rifle with two magazines and three rounds, was reportedly found in a crocus bag at a premises in Bedward Gardens. One man has reportedly been held in connection with that seizure.
