Never missed a chance to give praise

STAR of the month DJ Nicholas never misses the chance to give God praises. As long as the artiste is in the island, DJ Nicholas can be seen every Sunday at the New Life Assembly on Constant Spring Road.

THE STAR visited DJ Nicholas in church last Sunday as he and his wife Sandra sang, prayed and gave their support to the Pastor whose family was involved in a recently attacked.

The church was lively with persons 'speaking in tongues', singing and crying out at all the terrible things happening around them. Fellow gospel artistes, Prodigal Son and Jason Mighty, were also present at the New Life Assembly where Mighty and DJ Nicholas both serve as deacons for the church. Nicholas has been going to the New Life Assembly for the past five to six years, having been saved there.

Very supportive

Nicholas and Jason Mighty have been deacons at the church for a month, having been appointed by the church's committee.

As deacons, the two assist with altar call and working alongside the committee with their projects. According to Nicholas, his church family is very supportive of his career."They know I do full time music ministry and my pastor supports me a hundred per cent because Jamaica is not a hundred percent supportive of reggae gospel. They support it, letting people know I'm just another leg or arm of the church," he said.

Although DJ Nicholas grew up in a Christian family, Nicholas has not always followed the Christian path, having practised aspects of Rastafarianism in his late teens before being converted.

"I was passing that same church and stopped by, Pastor Errol Hall was preaching. He did altar call already and the pastor said there's a man from Constant Spring here who hasn't come up, I lived in Constant Spring so I came up and that's where it all started," he explained.

Having started deejaying before being saved, Nicholas didn't want to throw away his talent and directed it towards the ministry, performing gospel reggae.
