Korean back to court on assault charges

A Korean national who is facing a charge of assault occasioning bodily arm is to return to court on July 28, where the case will again be mention.

Hyuna Choi, a 46-year-old businessman who operates a clothing store in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, and who is accused of assaulting two female employees one of whom is pregnant, had his $50,000 bail extended when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.

It is alleged that on June 6, about 7.a.m., the two em-ployees arrived at work and were told by their employer to push up the metal shutter. The employees refused and Mr Choi threatened to fire both women.

It is alleged that during an argument over pay, the employees, who were going inside the store were pushed with a stick which the owner also used to hit one of them. The matter was reported to the Santa Cruz police and six days later the accused was arrested and charged.
