Melsie seeks employment

Melsie Brown - Ricardo Makyn

Melsie Brown, who pleaded for a home following the destruction of hers during Hurricane Ivan, has finally found one. But she now needs a job to keep it.

Brown's story was first published in THE STAR in August 2007. In the article, she indicated that she had been homeless since Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Back then, her house was destroyed by the hurricane and her appliances were stolen and she lost her job.

She said she has finally found a home, although she finds it difficult to pay the rent. "I found a room to live in, but I need a job and I am willing to do any little thing," she said.

She told THE STAR that she has skills in construction, sewing, office work, painting and would appreciate a job in any of those areas. "I walk many miles trying to find a job and can't find any," she said.

Brown also said that she was recently told by doctors that she has fibroids and this has been difficult to cope with. However, she said if she gets a job she will be able to earn enough money to have them removed and take care of herself.

She insists that she does not want to depend on anyone, she just needs a work to get back on her feet. "I willing to do any job, I just need one," she said.

Anyone wishing to employ Brown may contact her at 423-2304.
