US citizen charged with disorderly conduct

A woman accused of behaving in a disorderly manner at the Norman Manley International Airport appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Jacqueline Barnes appeared before RM Glen Brown to answer to charges of indecent language and disorderly conduct. It is alleged that she behaved in a boisterous manner when ap-proached by police personnel and used several expletives.

Barnes' lawyer, however, denied the accusations and told the court that his client, an American citizen, was going through the airport when she was accosted by a policewoman. He said a quarrel developed between the two and during the disagreement, his client was charged. He also said her passport was taken away.

RM Brown said, "When some of the Americans are at the airport, they don't respect anyone."

The matter is to be mentioned again on July 10.
