Right about face

Dear Pastor,

I am a 26-year-old woman who is in question of what to do about this guy who thinks that we are meant to be. I have found that while being with this guy for the past three years I was still searching for my Mr Right.

I did tell him plain and simple that I wanted to end the relationship. As with most guys he seemed to have got the picture. That is we broke it off amicably, but to date we have remained friends.

Every now and again he drops hints of us still being together, but for now he seems to do so under obvious restraint. I have a fear that I will finally give in to him and make the eventual mistake of marrying a person I do not love at all.

NOTHING INTIMATE

I must say however that he is a great friend even to my family, but I just want us to remain friends.

That is, we still sort of hang out together (go to movies and so on nothing intimate). Besides it's hard to not be friends since we run into each other at common places. It's hard talking to him on the phone sometimes because he constantly wants to talk to me, but doesn't have anything to really talk about.

Hence I get frustrated of having to always play the one who comes up with conversation. I do not want to however hurt his feelings by starting right away dating another guy, but I am moving on.

How can I move on in the true aspect of the word without hurting my "friend's" feelings?

T.W., St Andrew, Jamaica

Dear T.W.,

Start dating and tell the guy whenever he calls. You have been good and you have even gone out with him, but for how long are you going to punish yourself. Begin to date. Remember, you are 26 years old.
