Colours draw closer home

Colours International, the firm favourites to lift this year's Christeen Cummings Cup crushed Washington CC by 166 runs in the Milo-sponsored Portmore Metropolitan U-15 Cricket League on Sunday at the Bridgeport Sports ground.

Batting first Colours International raced to 233-4 off their allotted 35 overs, with Jermaine Innis making a half century, an even 50, and national U-15 wicketkeeper Amandrah Morris making a solid 48 runs. Christopher Campbell took 1-29 for Washington CC.

In reply, Washington were blown away for 57. They were routed by the bowling exploits of Wayne Boyd with 2-3 and Michael Downer 2-5.

Also on Sunday at Waterford High School, Portsmouth defeated Waterford by eight wickets. Scores: Waterford 97 all out, Arsenio Josephs 24, Marlon Chambers 4-12, Adrian Riley 3-19.

Portsmouth 99-2, Orville Thompson 46, Krastoffe Archibald 14 not out.

On Saturday at the Bridgeport Sports ground, Ken's Wildflower beat Portsmouth by four wickets. Scores: Portsmouth 105, Orville Thompson 21, Sean Lodge 2-18. Ken's Wildflower 108-6, Sean Lodge 21, Beckford 20.

Meanwhile, four matches will play this weekend. Today, Ken's Wildflower play Reid's Pen at the Bridgeport Sports ground, while tomorrow another three games are on. Portsmouth battle Reid's Pen at the Portsmouth Cricket ground, defending champs Waterford await Colours International at Waterford High School and Washington CC take on Ken's Wildflower at Bridgeport Sports ground. All games begin at 11 a.m.
