Reid, whose face is badly scarred as a result of the acid attack, said he was walking on Love Street when Duhaney threw the substance in his face. He said he was hospitalised for three months and his sight had been affected.

He said three days before the acid attack, he and Duhaney's daughter had had a dispute. He said he kicked the daughter on her hand.

He later apologised to Duhaney for kicking her daughter. Duhaney said then that he was lucky that he was the person involved because had it been someone else that person would have got some black acid or a gunshot.

Reid said he was on his way from a shop when Duhaney threw the substance in his face.

Duhaney denied attacking Reid with the acid. She said she was in her house when Reid came into the yard with a bottle and said he was gong to throw acid on her daughter.

She said she tried to take the bottle from Reid. She said Reid fell to the ground during the wrestle for the bottle. The cover fell off the bottle and some of the liquid splashed on Reid while he was on the ground.
