Blake looks ahead to relays

Yohan Blake - File

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland:

After his shock defeat in Wednesday night's 100m final at the 12th IAAF World Junior Championships, Yohan Blake has now turned his attention to the sprint relay.

"I am now just looking forward to the 4x100m," said Blake, who anchored Jamaica to gold at the 2006 championships in Beijing.

National junior 100m record holder, Blake, who went into the event as the bronze medallist from Beijing, was relegated to fourth in the final, finishing in 10.51 seconds.

"As you can see, I got a very bad start, and had to come back in the end," said Blake, whose statement was supported by the reaction time of 0.200 seconds, the slowest in the field.

Blake, who ran 10.11 in 2007 for the national junior record on his way to the CARIFTA Games Under-20 title, said he was also affected by a false start.

"The false start also threw me off and I also had a problem with the conditions," he said of the chilly afternoon.

Dexter Lee gave Jamaica its first gold medal of the championships when he won the final in 10.40 seconds.

"I am really proud of Dexter Lee," said Blake, who defeated Lee at the high school championships for the Class One title in March.

"I got a medal (bronze) in my first year (at the World Junior), so I am happy for him."
