A 43-year-old man was on Wednesday taken into custody at the Santa Cruz lock-up in St Elizabeth after he allegedly used a knife to stab his aunt to death when she spoke to him about allowing his girlfriend to sleep in her house.
Dead is Ethlyn Hyman-Dixon, a 69-year-old returning resident of Content, Goshen district in the parish, while in custody is Robert Newman otherwise called 'Don' an auto mechanic of the said address.
It is reported that the deceased who returned home from overseas recently, consistently complained about the accused man's behaviour and warned him to stop.
It is alleged that about 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the deceased spoke to her nephew again about sleeping with his woman in her house. It is reported that the accused got upset and used a large knife to stab the deceased all over her body. She died on the spot.
A family member told the STAR on Wednesday that the accused had threatened to kill the deceased, his brother and then kill himself. The family member said the threats were reported to the Santa Cruz police on two occasions and the accused was warned.
The family member told the STAR that the deceased's life might have been spared if the police were on time.
