Roy Rayon won his fourth Festival Song title on Saturday night ahead of nine other finalists in the Festival 2k8 'What A Bam Bam' song competition.

Rayon won $1 million in addition to $300,000 for best performer, a cellular phone courtesy of Digicel and a $25,000 gift certificate from Cooyah.

The finals were held at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

Rayon told The STAR that he was not surprised by his win.

"I believe if you put in the hard work you'll get in the result, I believe a festival song has three ingredients, good rhythm, good lyrics and it has to be something for people to dance to."

He said of his entry Rise and Shine, "I think my song had the edge because when you hear my song, you see parade floats and people having a good time."

Not everyone in the semi-crowded auditorium was as convinced though.

Some persons filed out of the centre disgruntled. Some stated loudly that St James contestant Lynford McIntosh, with his entry Country Life, should have won.
