Baby found dead in plastic bag

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The Montego Bay police will now be carrying out investigations as they seek the indentity of the mother of an infant who was found in a pile of garbage on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, at 10:30 a.m. yesterday, garbage collectors were conducting their duties along King Street in Montego Bay, St James.

The men reportedly noticed a plastic bag, which was said to be partly hidden inside a box.

Further reports are that the men became suspicious of the item and, upon removing the bag, the body of a baby boy was seen.

It was also reported that the baby is believed to be about one month old and his mouth and nostrils were stuffed with toilet paper.

The police were subsequently alerted and the baby taken to the morgue, where a post- mortem is expected to be done to determine the cause of death.

Investigations will also be carried out to see if the mother of the child can be found.
