A case of assault at common-law against a Rastafarian, who allegedly attacked a woman, was yesterday put off until August 18, when he and the complainant appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
He is Earl Wright of a Corporate Area address.
The complainant, Ann Martin, told the court that Wright, a friend of her father's, who lives in the same complex as she, assaulted her while they both tried to use the wash area at the location.
"I was using the pipe and he came there, Your Honour, so I allowed him to full his cup, but then he splashed me, so I splash him back," Martin said. "After that, he assaulted me and took out a knife and ran after me, so I reported him."
Martin also told the court that leading up to the incident, the accused would make gross sexual advances at her, including "feeling up himself" for her to see and showing her his "private parts".
Wright dismissed the complainant's claims as lies. The matter will return to court on August 18.
