Women rule 'Honey'

If the hassle to get into The Pantry on Friday night was anything to judge Honey by, it would have been described as an awful party. But the party was filled with high energy and good music, thereby giving the patrons a sweet treat.

Like Cinderella leaving the ball, female patrons tried to race the clock to get into the New Kingston venue before it was midnight. Though a large group of men surrounded the gate, making it barely visible, they made way for the women who wanted to make full use of the 'ladies free before midnight' offer. As the clock struck 12 a.m. the gates were closed and people on the outside had to wait several minutes before they were allowed to enter.

Inside, the largely female crowd rocked to the early '90s music being played by Nemesis International selectors. They danced but mainly by themselves as they seemed to outnumber the men at a ratio of five to one. Despite this obvious difference in the numbers, some men made no attempt to dance with the women; they merely stood and drank their liquor.

The party was surprisingly cheap as the men paid only $1500 and it was liquor and food inclusive for everyone. However, the party was so packed that the aggravation to get to the bar discouraged some people from drinking. Some parts of the venue were so packed that only head movements were allowed and it was hard for people to hold their cups of liquor.

Just as Trina's Single Again was introduced, the women in the venue started jumping, screaming, dancing and waving. They fully enjoyed other songs like Beyonce's Beautiful Nightmare and Flo Rida's Elevator.

While the patrons were inside enjoying the music and food, men were at the entrance causing what seemed to be a mini stampede. They forced their way inside but some of the persons who wanted to leave had to climb over the wall. Luckily, no one seemed to be seriously hurt during the incident.

When Renaissance Disco took over on the turntable playing hip-hop artiste Mystikal telling the women to 'shake their assets' and Destiny's Child talking about 'buying the shoes on their feet', it was well received.

The Renaissance selector later announced that the sections behind and beside the selector area was the 'daggering area' so no paparazzi were allowed. By now, the selector made the women 'back it up' to songs like Beenie Man's Buffer Zone and Wine Gal while Anthony B 'teased'.

Coppershot started a hot set with songs like Lil Wayne's Lollipop and A Milli, which had the entire venue bouncing. Afterwards, it was the 'get rich quick' segment with songs like Konshen's Winner, Serani's Stinkin Rich, Vybz Kartel's Trailer Load A Money and We Fly High by Jim Jones.

The 'semi-daggering' that took place before was nothing compared to the wild behavior that came with songs such as RDX's Daggering and Busy Signal's Pon De Edge while Aidonia was giving A Hundred Stab. Stephen McGregor's 'Work Out' rhythm was definitely a hit with songs such as Touch Mi, Push David Push and Do Your Thing.

Later on, Bloodline played Pressure's Love and Affection, giving the patrons a well needed cooling after their intense work-out.

This 'honey bee' must have created quite a buzz
