'Coke head' pleads guilty to phone theft

Kevin Gayle pleaded guilty to robbery with aggravation when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Allegations in the matter are that Gayle attacked the complainant and robbed her of her cellphone. When Resident Magistrate Glen Brown asked the accused what he had to say in the matter. Gayle replied, "Ah nuh mi really thief the phone your Honour, a just the coke. It (coke) mash me up bad, your honour, I was clean for three months and I would never do something like that. But my brother dead and him ago bury next week Thursday, it really mash me up, your honour."

The matter was set to be mentioned again on July 30 for the accused to be medically assessed.
