In the opening men's team match of this year's Inter-Bauxite Table Tennis League, visitors Alpart trounced defending champions Windalco 4-1 on Thursday night at Kirkvine Sports Club.
In individual results, new player on the Alpart team, Robert Gabay, blew away defending singles champion George Hyman 11-6, 11-5, 11-8 (3-0), Dervon Parchment overpowered Justin Allen 11-8, 11-8, 11-9 (3-0) and Oliver Miller came from behind to clip Wayne Aird 7-10, 10-12, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 (3-2) in singles matches. Gabay and Ernest Allen (Justin's brother) eased past Hyman and Aird 11-4, 11-4, 11-8 (3-0) in doubles, for Alpart's four victories.
Former singles champion, Mark Gregory, turned back Ernest Allen 11-6, 3-11, 11-8, 11-5 (3-1), to pull one back for Windalco.
The league continues next Thursday with St Ann Bauxite entertaining Windalco, starting at 6:30 p.m.
