Accused visa tamperer to return to court

Tamara White, accused of tampering with a United States visa, pleaded not guilty when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

White, who is facing charges of forgery and uttering a forged document, appeared before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown.

The court heard that White, who was attempting to travel overseas, presented a passport with a US visa. It was later discovered, however that the visa had expired in 2006, but a new date of 2009 had been fraudulently added.

Checks made with the United States embassy confirmed that a visa had indeed been issued to her, but had expired in 2006.

White is to return to court on September 18. She was ordered to have her fingerprints taken.
