Rapper visits Bembe

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

An international appearance, gun salutes and dance moves were what greeted patrons at Bembe last Thursday night.

Rap artiste Yung Joc made a surprise star appearance connecting with his Jamaican fans at Bembe. Minutes to 2 a.m., as the vibe was at its peak, an entourage of persons entered the Bembe stage with ZJ Nikki Z at the helm, announcing that rapper Yung Jock was in the building. A gasp and a sudden rush to the stage occurred as the rapper, simply dressed in a white T-shirt and shorts, greeted fans over the microphone.

Enjoying the vibe, the rapper graciously took pictures with fans who jumped onstage to get close to him, as he watched the antics of the dancers and bobbed his head to songs such Hypocrite from Bugle and Nuh Linga from Elephant Man. The rapper was soon laughing as two Japanese females took to the stage dancing the 'nuh linga' alongside some male dancers.

Dancer Ching Ching was not to be outdone as he soon took to the mic talking about his bling and what's 'popping' with him. Decked out in black and white football gear, Ching Ching showcased his skills, bringing a football onstage and crying out his support for Jamaicans at the Bejing Olympics.

Before the star's visit, gunshots rang out to the right of the stage, as an overzealous patron showed his appreciation to a particular song.

There was a small rush for cover, however, patrons soon realised that the gunshots did not signal any conflict.

Selector Biggy was not pleased and said: "It's not that kind of event. This is Bembe and we don't have that around here."
