Twenty-one girls will vie for the Miss Teen Portmore Pageant which is set to have its grand coronation show on August 31 at the Portmore Heart Academy.
The prestigious show is under the distinguish patronage of Dr Dane Levy, president of Portmore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Dr Rosalie Hamilton, vice-president of University of Technology and president of Medium and Small Micro Enterprise Alliance.
Last year's winner, Jodi-Kay Royes, will be a special guest at the pageant, and will crown the new queen.
Some of the main sponsors include Burger King and Jamaica Money Market Brokers and Love TV will have the exclusive rights for the live telecast of the show to the viewing public. Love TV's inclusion in this year's show is significant as the pageant now takes on a stronger moral standing.
The organisers and promoters are gearing towards churches and religious organisations and stressed that it is long overdue for good and clean entertainment. No swimwear and bikini will be permitted to parade on the show.
The competition's aim is to assist in the personal development of young ladies, to contribute to their educational development, through scholarships and other prizes, and to foster good social interaction among them.
