Renaissance Disco was ready for take off last Saturday night at Flight 19, held at the Palisadoes Go Kart track.

Celebrating 19 years in the business the Renaissance family was in prime musical form showing the crowd why they have stood out as a signature sound over the years.

Situated close to the Norman Manley International Airport, patrons got the full flight experience as the décor went hand in hand with the theme. The venue, was decked in red and featured three fully stocked bars. At the entrance, persons were dressed in pilot suits and encouraged patrons to enjoy their flight. On the inside, women were dressed as sexy flight attendants in red dresses.

Dressed the part

The Renaissance disc jocks also dressed the part, sporting their pilot hats. Renaissance selectors Smoke, Foody, Christoff, Dre and Jazzy T all took turns on the wheels of steel throughout the night.

With a large general area which was dubbed economy and a nicely decorated VIP area dubbed first class, the venue was filled with patrons, but thankfully not to the point of overcrowding. The selectors tried to take patrons across the world musically, but when the STAR entered the venue, the selectors were still in 'Jamaica' playing a slew of dancing songs from Elephant Man and other deejays.

Soon, the selectors were off to 'Trinidad' with an excellent soca set that had some women wining. However, while the music was good, few patrons seemed to fully appreciate it. The music continued to change as the selectors went into R&B and rap, Lil Wayne's A Mili, mixed in with Konshens' Winner and Serani's Stinking Rich got a huge forward for the night.

Unofficial dancing arena

The middle of the venue was the unofficial dancing arena, as men competed against one another in a mini dance-off. The video cameras were out and as some shied away from the video light - others revelled in it.

As the night progressed, more and more persons got into the dancing mood as the liquor flowed and men found a female dancing companion.

When the 'daggering' songs came on, some persons didn't seem to know what to do, but for one female in the centre, it was her time to reign. Her partner hoisted her in the air, then she was on the ground, and her antics drew more than a few stares. Throughout the venue, persons were 'getting on bad' and enjoying themselves.

While the party was advertised as Renaissance and friends, by 4 a.m., no other selectors had played as yet, even though they were in the venue. By the end of the night, it was obvious that Flight 19 was a happy birthday for the Renaissance crew.

The fluffy women were out in their numbers.

Dresses were the fashion 'do'.

This woman looks like she should be walking the runway.

Stepping into the party, she was an immediate show-stopper.
