Sheldon Dockery, the 35-year-old man from St Elizabeth, who has been implicated in a huge overseas farm-work racket, was again denied bail when he appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.
Dockery, of Lacovia district in the parish, is charged with obtaining money by false pretence after it's alleged that he used his former employer's name and collected thousands of dollars from several persons over a period of time.
When he appeared in court on July 24, he pleaded not guilty and denied knowing complainants who were also in court. On Thursday, he again denied knowing four more complainants who appeared.
It is alleged that between April and June this year the accused promised the complainants that he would provide jobs for them overseas through the farm work programme and collected more than $500,000 from them.
The court was also told that the accused collected travel documents and luggage from the complainants, but failed to deliver the jobs promised.
The matter was reported to the police and on June 21, he was held by the police and subsequently arrested and charged.
Dockery is to return to the Santa Cruz court on August 25.
