When Roy Clarke appeared before the Corporate Area Resident's Magistrates Court on Friday, he pleaded guilty to occasioning bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

The clerk of the court stated that Clarke assaulted the complainant causing swelling to sections of her body when he used a piece of steel to beat her.

When the complainant spoke on the matter, she told the court that Clarke stole her bicycle and she went to report the matter to the police.

She then told the court that the night after she made the report, Clarke awaited her in the yard and started beating her saying, "bad man name nuffi call a station, hey gal you a informer."

Clarke responded to the allegations by saying he is not aware of what the complainant was saying. "Your honour, she always a do some bad things to me and she 'ease' her body in my face all the time, if she waan 'poop', she jus come and 'poop' on me, your honour."

Clarke was sentenced to 12 months at hard labour even after all his explanations.
