He cheated and lied

Dear Pastor,

I am a 23-year-old woman. I have been with a man since I was 17. I loved him with all my heart and wanted him to marry me but he cheated and lied. We have a one-year-old son and I really want my son to have his father in his life.

When I was pregnant, he found a woman in New York and started to treat me badly. He told me that I could not help him. I was so hurt that I tried to kill myself. The good thing is he loves the baby and takes care of him, but up until now we can't live for a month without a fight. He always accuses me of cheating and calls me a whore, when he is the one walking around looking every woman he sees. He tells me that he loves me, but I don't think so.

My real problem right now is that I think I am no longer in love with him. I like another guy that used to be or may still be a friend of my son's father. I am afraid that if I talk to him, people will say that I am a whore.

Please, pastor, give me your fatherly advice.

S.L., St Catherine, Jamaica

Dear S.L.,

I know for sure that you should end the relationship with your son's father, but I cannot encourage you to become intimate with the man who is a friend of your son's father. You don't know what he would do. He may even go to court to get the child from you. He may tell the world that he left you because you always had an affair with this friend.

So, my dear, trust God for another man.

Pastor
