World Championships relay silver medallist Marvin Anderson looks likely to miss the 4x100m relay after he pulled up in the men's 200m second round yesterday.
"My hamstring gave way coming off the curve ... I tried to hold on, but I couldn't," said Anderson, who ran the first leg of Jamaica's silver medal team from last year's World Championships in Beijing.
In the first round, Anderson, finalist in Osaka last year, finished third in 20.85 to book his place in the second round.
While hopeful that he will be able to play a part in proceedings, Anderson said it was too early to say if he would take part in the men's sprint relay.
"I have to see how my leg feels tomorrow morning, but the fact that I am walking, it's a good sign," Anderson said. Reports indicated that the athlete had just recovered from injury ahead of the 200m heats in Beijing.
Anderson, Usain Bolt, who ran a world record 9.69 seconds for the Olympic 100m title, Asafa Powell, who has a season's best of 9.82 and Michael Frater, who ran a personal record of 9.97 in the 100m final along with Dwight Thomas are in the pool of runners for the relay, which Jamaica are heavily favoured to win.
