Marlon Thompson, the man accused of collecting a doctor's salary from the University Hospital of the West Indies long after he left his job there as a clerk, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Thompson is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretence.
It is alleged that he worked at the hospital from 2002 to 2006 as an accounting clerk but was being paid as a medical doctor between July 2007 and April 2008. Three other persons, all former employees of the hospital, have also been charged.
It is alleged that they made the transactions in the system that allowed Thompson to remain on the payroll. Thompson was ordered to have his fingerprints taken. He returns to court on September 9.
