Not everyone would gracefully accept defeat, but Leisha Thomas, the latest contestant to be eliminated from the 2008 Digicel Rising Stars competition, did just that and vowed to give full support to all contestants throughout the talent show.
Full support
"Well, it was fun and I enjoyed it, I just want to thank Jamaica for keeping me this long," said Thomas, after receiving the least amount of votes last Friday night at the results show at TVJ studios. Judges Anthony Miller, Nadine Sutherland and Clyde McKenzie agreed that the competition has grown past her. "I want to congratulate the rest of the contestants, and you'll get my full support," she added.
Despite dropping out, Leisha overcame her disappointment and delivered a heartfelt performance.
Lashana Stephenson, the other contestant voted in the bottom two, redeemed herself with a very strong performance. She was very confident on the night and when asked by host, Yendi Phillipps, what she thought about her delivery, she said, "I did my best."
The judges commended her performance, Clyde McKenzie predicted that Lashana would progress based on what he observed. "I tell you this, just listening to what has gone in this competition thus far, I think it is very clear Lashana should stay. Her voice is much stronger and she sounded better," said McKenzie.
Sigh of relief
Unlike crowd favourite Khalil, the other contestants became very nervous when hostess Yendi Phillipps announced that the results were in. The trio SLR breathe a sigh of relief, when they found out they were safe.
Tiffany Thompson showed the tension was too much to bare, her hands were glued on to her head, before Yendi Phillipps delayed to tell her that she was safe.
The judges thought that Jamaica had made the right decision this week and said contestants must step up the pace, as the competition continues to get harder.
There are seven contestants left in the competition. They will find out where they stand at next week's results show.
