The Magnum Kings and Queens Summer Road Tour final show had all the ingredients lined up to make it a great party, and so was it.

Fantastic stage performances, elegantly dressed ladies, comical MCs, and a very cool atmosphere for partying were some of the attributes that brought the impressive stage show to its final destination.

Great performance

The event, held at the Kingston waterfront on Ocean Boulevard, downtown Kingston, last Saturday night, came at a time when Jamaicans were still celebrating the great performances of their athletes at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China.

The setting was poised for a great night, as the two roads, Ocean Boulevard and King Street were flocked with energetic patrons, mostly clad in the national colours of black, green and gold.

Self-proclaimed Ground God, Bounty Killer was the star performer of the night. He wasted no time onstage as he immediately dipped into his bag of hits, which had the crowd in a frenzy.

Showing his appreciation of the Jamaican athletes, he said, "Weh di clean hearted people dem deh who support di athletes dem a Beijin ...?"

He took the time to recognise the achievements of the athletes and also matching it to some of Jamaica's icons, including himself.

"Yuh see what happen a Beijing, luk at it positively, a lot a gud come out a di ghetto, Marcus Garvey, Bob Marley, and myself ghetto yute," he said, then spitting the lyrics of his hit Born As A Sufferer, which got huge roars from the crowd.

Anytime, Can't Believe Me Eyes and Born As A Sufferer received thunderous applause by the patrons before Killer switched the mood to spread a different message.

"See di sea deh any bwoii weh a fish go suh. Unnuh can see me and boo me but nuh ... caah cum screw me," he said.

Black-er and Macka Diamond chipped in and gave a brief but entertaining performance of Bun Him, which had patrons singing along. Magnum's Queen of the Dancehall, Baby Tash, also delivered well.

Played some hits

Between acts, Stone Love's Fyah Rass and Dwayne controlled the turntables as they played some hits from dancehall's most popular artistes.

Singer J and Ginjah left on a high as their performances got a favoured response from the crowd. Vybe Ihatas also rocked the crowd with their incredible dance moves.

MCs Pretty Boy, the fluffy diva Miss Kitty and the dazzling Empress contributed effectively with their stage antics that had the crowd lauhging all night.

The roadshow tour had previously made stops in Junction Square St Elizabeth, Folly Oval in Portland, Dump Up Beach in Montego Bay and Leiba's Esso Station in Clarendon before its final stop in kingston.

It was all about woman power at the Magnum Kings and Queens Roadshow.
