Four of the athletes who represented Jamaica in the just-concluded Beijing Olympics are in the island. They are Bobby-Gaye Wilkins, Aleen Bailey, Herbert McGregor and Olivia McKoy.

Wilkins, who received a bronze medal for being part of the women's 4x400m relay team, and McKoy, who announced her retirement after competing in the women's javelin throw, returned home early yesterday, while McGregor who finished 15th in the men's long jump and Bailey were part on a larger contingent, which returned to hugs and applause at the Norman International Manley Airport last night.

Also among the returnees last night, were coaches Maurice Wilson, Michael Clarke, Edward Hector and Bert Cameron, physician Dr Winston Dawes and manager Ludlow Watts.

"It was wonderful," said an elated Bailey who ran in the heats of the 4x100, but watched in anguish as Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson dropped the baton in the final. "We couldn't ask for anything better.

"What stood out in my most was the three world records. I didn't win an individual medal, but I have no regrets, as it's all a part of God's plan. If anything was to happen, it would happen," she added.

McGregor, who was attending his first Olympics, said the experience was great and he was looking towards London 2012.

"I didn't perform as well as I possibly could as was suffering from injuries, but all in all, it open my eyes a lot. I can only look forward to 2012 where I know things I will perform a lot better," he added.
