It took the effort of the Jamaica Fire Brigade via a boat to rescue two couples from A Fi Wi Place, a hotel near Bushy Park in St Catherine.
The Star, on Friday, found scores of curious onlookers braving the high water on the roadway to see the trapped couples, many saying they should have known better.
It was revealed that the couples still checked into the hotel despite being warned that the hotel might become flooded.
Residents said the Coburn gully overflowed for longer than was expected. "It is the first time I ever see the gully take so long for the water to run off and I don't know what else to do now, mi fed up of it," said Denise Howell, a resident.
It was revealed that not only the nearby Nightingale Grove community was flooded this time, but also adjacent communities, such as Grass Piece Grove and Grove Farm. People who wanted to get across the water had to wait on either trucks or SUVs to move from one place to another. The star news team was unable to travel on the road because of the heavy waters.
