$40,000 or 40 days for disorderly conduct

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Spanish Town

Nickesha Prince, other-wise called 'Allison Brown', of Spanish Town, St Catherine, learnt the very hard way to keep her mouth shut when she was fined $40,000 or 40 days in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

Prince, charged with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and giving a false name, pleaded guilty before Resident Magistrate Vashti Chatoor. She was fined $10,000 or 10 days for disorderly conduct, $15,000 or 10 days for obstruction of justice and $15,000 or 20 days for giving a false name to the police.

Allegations are that in late July, a police team was on Burke Road when they spotted a man selling illegally. They attempted to prosecute the man when Prince intervened, trying to prevent the police from carrying out their duties, and behaved boisterously.

When she was charged, she gave her name was Allison Brown.

After handing down her decision, Resident Magistrate Chatoor warned the accused that she must never bother the police, or anyone else doing their duty, or she would find herself in a similar position.
