COPS Question KARTEL

KARTEL

Popular deejay Vybz Kartel was yesterday held for questioning by the police.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that the deejay, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, was held in connection with a number of incidents.

Up to press time, the deejay had not been formally charged, but THE STAR was reliably informed that he was in custody and was being questioned.

Kartel was among nine persons who were detained. Also detained was a policeman who is said to be his bodyguard.

Joint task force

Reports are that about 5:30 p.m., a joint task force conducted a raid at the deejay's studio at 14 Kirk Avenue, Havendale, St Andrew. The task force is said to have been instituted to carry out operations and raids in the metropolitan area.

This is not Kartel's first run-in with the police. In February of this year, Operation Kingfish issued a statement requesting a meeting with him and fellow deejay Sheldon 'Aidonia' Lawrence for questioning concerning a photograph which showed them posing with what appeared to be high-powerered weapons.

No criminal charges were, however, laid against him.

Vybz Kartel is known for such songs as Tek, Wine Pan You and Send Fi Mi Army.
