Iris Davis has not seen her daughter since 1978, and now, 30 years later, she is hoping that she can find her and rebuild their mother-daughter relationship.
Davis said she last saw her daughter, Louise Eulalee Downy, at a funeral. The funeral was for Downy's father, Larkland Downy. Davis says she has no idea why her daughter has stopped communicating with her as they were quite close before the ceremony. "She always use to come see me before. I don't know what happen," she said.
The 82-year-old woman says the contact has gone so bad that she is not even sure if her daughter is still alive. "I want to find her long ago, but I always use to just ask around," she said.
now married
Davis' pastor, Michael Reid, said he always knew about her attempts to find her daughter and decided to help by trying to get it published.
Davis, who is from Point Hill, St Catherine, said her daughter is now married and her last name changed to Hosue. She said Louise has three sons and a daughter. Although she does not remember the names of all the children, Davis said her granddaughter's name is Charmaine Miller and one of her grandson's names is Garnet Pennant.
Davis said Louise was born in 1945 and used to manage the Cable and Wireless (then Jamaica Telephone Company) Duke Street office.
She is quite sad about not seeing her daughter and hopes that this latest attempt will help her to find her. Anyone knowing her daughter or how she could contact her, may call Pastor Reid at 476-4295 or 378-4725.
