Ganja seized in May Pen

The Clarendon police say the more than 363 kilograms (800lb) of compressed ganja that was seized in May Pen on Sunday was part of the guns-for-drugs trade being operated between Jamaica and Haiti.

Police reports are that on Sunday evening, the police were conducting an operation along the Bustamante Highway in the parish when they signalled a Toyota Corolla motor car with two men on board to stop.

One of the men reportedly jumped from the vehicle before it stopped and made his escape.

The other man, Donovan Rhule, 45, of Planter's Hill in the parish, was charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja after the car was searched and the drug found in 20 knitted bags.

Meanwhile, the police say they are searching for Garnet Newell, who they believe can assist in their investigations.
