Heineken's new-look cans launched

DJ Rohan and DJ Jigga from this year's Heineken Green Synergy dropping some tracks at the Heineken CAN launch at Lime Cay on Sunday, September 21.

When Heineken introduced the 'Heineken slim line can' to the Jamaican market last year, the limited edition version served only as a teaser. Now, the beer company has decided to reintroduce Heineken in a can, but this time, it is here to stay.

On Sunday, Heineken officially launched its 'beer in a can' at Lime Cay.

The event saw guests and media personalities out in their numbers, VIPs being transported via yachts, while others climbed aboard the smaller passenger boats.

Fun and excitement

It was all fun and excitement as Heineken ensured that all their guests were taken care of with great musical selections from the deejays in this year's Heineken Green Synergy competition, free Heineken beer, other drinks and, of course, food to maintain the energy level of the guests. Some VIP guests made use of the opportunity to go parasailing, while others were quite content with taking a swim.

According to Keri-Ann McKenzie, brand manager for Heineken, the decision to reintroduce Heineken in a can was made after careful consideration. She said the can would appeal to persons who want an easy and convenient way to enjoy their favourite brew, especially when they are on-the-go, at the beach or at other outdoor activities.

Storage and movement

"This packaging makes it relatively convenient for our consumers. In the European markets, canned Heineken is one of the most popular products and makes for easy storage and movement," McKenzie said.

The cans will be made available through all of Jamaica's major supermarkets.

"Currently under way is a promotion in supermarkets where purchases of six Heineken cans will get you a free Heineken cooler bag. Another special part of this campaign is that we have taken the initiative to rebuild and brand the Lime Cay Beach Bar and Grill as one of our premium Heineken outlets," she added.

Heineken will also be hosting several beach promotions at Lime Cay over the upcoming months.

It was all about the fun and musical vibe on the beach as these three patrons danced up a storm.

These 'Heineken Girls' helped welcome guests and media personalities to the Heineken CAN launch.

This young man took no prisoners, as his shirt full of Heineken cans suggested that he took full advantage of the free beer.
