Missing church brother involved in lotto scam?

Two months after brother Warren Morrison went missing because of his rumoured 'involvement' in the lucrative but deadly lotto scam, church members of his Pentecostal Assembly located in Anchovy, St James, said they are still hopeful that he is still alive despite the jaw-dropping allegation.

Speaking with The Star, a deacon who is a close family friend said the assembly was still keeping heart, although Morrison, the vice-president for the church's youth department, has been missing since July. "The church is trying to hope for the best," Brother Milestonesaid. "We still have hope that he is alive."

Describing Morrison, a tiler by profession, as a vibrant and jovial person who has been a member of the assembly since 2005. Milestone said he heard rumours of Morrison's 'involvement' in the flourishing lotto scam in the western parish, but could not say whether or not that is true. "Rumours have it that he was complaining about some financial difficulties. He then started making regular trips to Western Union, so here is where the speculations came from that he went missing because of the scam. I don't know if any of this is true," he said.

Declined to comment

Morrison's wife and mother of his one month-old daughter declined to comment when contacted.

The Anchovy police said they, too, have come across the rumour. "We are looking into rumours that the lotto scam had something to do with him being missing, but we are yet to find any evidence to prove this. So far, we have explored all major leads but we have not picked up anything," a policeman said. "Both Morrison and the car he was driving remain missing."

Police report that Morrison left home in a white motor car about 8:05 p.m. on July 12 for Chester, Hanover, where he was to collect three barrels and deliver them in Crawford, St Elizabeth. Police are unable to say who Morrison was set to meet or if he got there.

The Anchovy police are asking anyone with information regarding Morrison's whereabouts to contact them at at 956-4100 or the nearest police station.

Name changed upon request.
