Would-be robbers killed

Policemen take a close look at this executive bus in which two alleged robbers were shot dead yesterday morning. The police say the men, who were among a group robbing passengers, were killed by a licensed firearm holder who was a passenger on the bus. - Norman Grindley

Two men who were attempting to rob a public passenger bus along Slipe Road, Kingston yesterday, were fatally shot by a licensed firearm holder, who was a passenger on the bus.

Police reports are that about 9 a.m., a Toyota Coaster was travelling along Slipe Road, when it stopped at a traffic light. A group of men then boarded the bus and on reaching the intersection of Studio One Boulevard and Slipe Road, the men brandished knives and guns and proceeded to rob the occupants.

The licensed firearm holder challenged the men and two of the robbers were shot while the others escaped on foot in the area. The police were summoned and the injured men were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The dead men have been identified as 22-year-old Kashka 'Kasha' Clarke, a janitor of Lower York Street, Franklyn Town, Kingston 16, and Damion 'Omar' Williams, 26, of Slipe Road, Kingston.
