Student dies during Manning Cup training

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Seventeen-year-old Terrence Golding, a member of Eltham High School's Manning Cup football team, died in the Spanish Town Hospital about 9 p.m. on Wednesday night after becoming ill during one of the team's training sessions.

It is reported that Golding, a resident of Gordon Pen, St Catherine, was training along with the other team members, when he complained of not feeling well. He was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where he later died.

Family members and the school body were saddened by the news.

The Spanish Town police said they are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of Golding's death. Until then, the matter is being treated as a case of sudden death.
