Rising Stars sensation Cameal, along with the groups Kahlil and SLR, gave superb performances at the Digicel Rising Stars High School Tour at Kingston Technical Tuesday afternoon.

Although crowd favourites Kahlil received loud cheers upon their arrival, it was Cameal Davis who grabbed the headlines in front of the over 200 jubilant students.

Davis, a former student and head girl at Kingston Technical and their newly crowned singing queen, gave a stunning performance, to which teachers and students responded well.

Words of encouragement

Before she got going, the elegantly dressed Davis, the Denham Town princess, gave some words of encouragement to the very attentive audience.

"I love you guys so much, big up to the ancillaries and the staff members, I want you guys to take care of my school," she said.

"Listen, being a head girl was something special... it look good when you can put it on your resume, so ladies I want you to respect yourselves... and males, males let me see who respect the ladies them," said Davis before belting the lyrics to Dangerously in Love by R&B queen Beyonce.

Lamar Samuel, a grade nine student, was overwhelmed by the experience and begged to go on stage with Davis, who complied. Her soft touch and serene vocals was enough to awe the youngster some more.

Bright smile

With Davis whispering in his ear and softly caressing the structure of his face, the Central Kingston resident threw his hands in the air, opened his eyes wide, and smiled brightly, much to the delight of the crowd.

Prior to Davis' performance, the Digicel crew found it difficult to control the energetic students, who were determined to touch the contestants as they entered the building.

The introduction of the trio SLR was an exciting one. Their performance was lively and was well received by the crowd, which sang along with them.

"We just want to big up everybody from Kingston Technical... we love you," said a member of the group.

When moderator Aunty Pat asked if they were ready for the real thing to start, sections of the crowd shouted: "We want Kahlil!"

Screams echoed around the compound as, one by one, the members of the group entered.

Immediately, the group went to work, teasing the girls with their charm. "Kahlil me love, come touch me please," shouted a female student.

The tour was the first of three to schools of the top three contestants. The tour also continued at Rusea's High for SLR and Mobay High for Kahlil.
